UMD’s James and Lauri Grunig win prestigious 2010 Presidential Award for “outstanding contribution to better world understanding.”
ARHU’s Drs. James and Lauri Grunig, professors emeriti, were honored with the 2010 Presidential Award for “outstanding contribution to better world understanding.” The award ceremony of the International Public Relations Association took place at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, DC. IPRA’s immediate past president, Dr. Elizabeth Goenawan Ananto, in the presence of Indonesia’s ambassador to the United States, Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, presented the honor presented the Grunigs with the award on April 16, 2011. Past recipients of the IPRA-sponsored award include JK Rowling, the Queen Jubilee Committee, the UN Department of Information, public relations pioneer Harold Burson, IPRA’s founding members, Transparency International, The Economist, John Graham, and UNESCO.
