COMM Ph.D. Student Receives Prestigious ARHU Award
December 21, 2021
Darrian Carroll receives the 2021-2022 Harris Visionary Scholarship.
Congratulations to COMM doctoral student Darrian Carroll for receiving the 2021-2022 James F. Harris Arts & Humanities Visionary Scholarship from the University of Maryland's College of Arts & Humanities. The Harris Scholarship honors the humanities and arts in action. Past recipients have demonstrated a well-rounded approach to service and community engagement in addition to their scholarship.
In the letter announcing Carroll's receipt of the Harris Scholarship, ARHU Dean Bonnie Thornton Dill noted "The committee was truly impressed with the depth of commitment you have shown and the 'visionary' quality of your engagement with others on behalf of the arts and humanities."
Darrian Carroll is the second COMM graduate student to receive the Harris Scholarship--Dr. Megan Fitzmaurice received the Harris Award in 2016.
