On Friday, October 7, 2022, Dr. Briana Barner, President’s Postdoctoral Fellow, presented her research on Blackness, Cultural Reckoning, & Podcasts.
Dr. Barner’s presentation highlighted an overview of ‘Black’ in Black Cultural Production in critical cultural communication (Black popular culture, race, gender, and sexuality), digital media (podcasts), and Black feminism (cultural reckoning). She explained the connecting methods (close listening, interviews, ethnography) and frameworks (digital Black feminism and marginalization) used in her research. The research done by Dr. Barner has larger implications that Black podcasts can reveal different answers to different questions.
