Sylvia Guo received her M.S. in Public Relations from Boston University with a specialty in Applied Communication Research, and her B.A. in English from Xi’an International Studies University (China). Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. Her research interests focus on the intersections of risk and crisis communication, traditional and social media, crisis emotions and resilience. Prior to joining the department, Sylvia worked as a market research consultant for MaPS (Waltham & San Francisco), offering strategic marketing/communication solutions for Fortune 500 companies. She teaches COMM107: Oral Communication: Principles and Practices.
