Professional Interests:

I have always been fascinated by how we exchange information, particularly how cross-cultural communication affects our understanding of certain issues. Not always due to a lack of communication skills, miscommunication may well be a result of using the wrong skills, or not being aware of your audience.

I knew my interest in communication and culture would always be my motivation to pursue an education in the communication field. I hold a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, and a Bachelor degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

As a faculty member at a Saudi university, I have taught introductory classes in communication skills and critical thinking. I have always believed in hands-on experience and active learning in the classroom. My goal in teaching is to make the most of the time I spend with my students in helping them practice and retain the communication skills we learn in class. I believe that communication is the first step to solve most of our problems. Therefore, I always think of my classroom as a workshop to prepare future leaders and public advocates.
