Lecturer, Basic Oral Communication Course
The Department of Communication at the University of Maryland invites applications for half-time or more Lecturers for the 2013-14 academic year. Each person hired will teach sections of the basic communication course. The starting date for the position is August 23, 2013.
The successful candidate will have teaching experience in a basic oral communication course. Candidates must have an earned masters degree in Communication at the time of appointment and a background in pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment.
“Oral Communication: Principles and Practices” is a long-standing three-credit hybrid basic course that covers units on oral communication principles, verbal and nonverbal language, listening, interviewing, group communication, and public speaking. It enrolls approximately 4,000 students in 165 sections each academic year.
The Department of Communication is nationally ranked in a number of areas. The University of Maryland is located within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and internationally significant cities.
