Terps Quoted in Media
Several Department of Communication faculty members have recently been quoted as experts in a variety of news media sources.
Associate professor Brooke Fisher Liu was quoted in a recent fivethirtyeight.com story concerning cellphone emergency alerts in the recent series of bombings in New York and New Jersey. Research from Liu's research team was also mentioned in a New York Times article on the same subject. This research was funded by the Department of Homeland Security and examined the optimized content and form of alerts and warnings for imminent threats. Findings from the research are also heavily cited in a proposed rulemaking by the Federal Communications Commission.
Professor and chair Shawn J. Parry-Giles was interviewed by WJBC ("The Voice of Central Illinois"). From the program's website: "How can Hillary Clinton be unpopular but still lead in the polls?
