Congratulations to the COMM faculty who received a $500,000 UMD Grand Challenges Impact Award to launch the Pandemic Preparedness Initiative (PPI)
Department of Communication Professor Brooke Liu leads the new PPI along with School of Public Health Professor Cynthia Baur. COMM Associate Professor Anita Atwell Seate and Assistant Professor Carina Zelaya are core PPI faculty.
The PPI integrates a broad array of social and behavioral sciences to learn from COVID-19 and other disasters to better prepare for future public health emergencies. Animated by core principles of health equity and community engagement, the PPI team promotes educational opportunities for students, faculty, and practitioners across diverse fields.
