FEMA Accreditation for START Program

The Training in Risk and Crisis Communication (TRACC) program (led by associate professor Brooke Fisher Liu, lecturer Elizabeth Petrun, and graduate students Julia Daisy Fraustino, Stephanie Madden, and Melissa Janoske), has recently been accredited by FEMA's National Preparedness Directorate for inclusion in its State/Federal Sponsored Course Catalog. TRACC is part of the work this group is involved with at START, or the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism.

TRACC was developed over the course of two years through intensive primary research (workshop of experts, survey, and existing training content analysis) and secondary research (two literature reviews) and it is likely the first risk and crisis communication program founded in social science research.
